Obstacles
Michael Oher's mother, Denise Oher was addicted to drugs and his father Jerome Williams Sr. was frequently in jail. As a result Michael was in and out of foster care and a lot of times homeless. He wasn't to bright academically, this is known because he repeated first and second grade. Also within the first 9 years of school he went to 11 different schools.
During his senior year of high school his estranged father was murdered. Sean and Leigh Ann Touhy took him in. After this he started to excel in Football. They took him in at 16 and became his legal guardians at 17.By the beginning of his senior year he was a starting left tackle. He quickly became a hot item in the state of Tennessee which led to many Division 1 scholarships.
